The A is for assessment.
Before beginning the process of “organize my closet” it is important to assess your space and determine your goals. Ask yourself the following questions:
- Do you have enough room?
- Do you wear all the clothes in your closet?
- Do you wear all the shoes in your closet?
If you answered yes, then you can continue with organization.
But if you answered no, then the purging and donations must begin. Like most individuals, you tend to keep items just in case you might fit into them at a later date. Those particular items must go. Before you begin the process, first decide if you need to organize or if you need to begin a de-cluttering session.
The B is for basics.
Once you have finished assessing your closet you will then determine how you want to organize it. The possibilities are endless when it comes to ways to organizing your closet so you may want to choose wisely. You may first start off with sorting your clothing items as well as shoes and accessories. Begin by putting all the pants together, shirts, skirts, dresses and so on. You can choose to sort by season, occasion, color, etc. As long as you can keep your items sorted to the point where you can locate them then you will have this part accomplished.
That last part is C, which is for consistency.
After you have invested your precious time sorting and organizing your closet, you need to stick to your system. Discipline is very important in order to keep your closet organized.
